Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort is a coral cay located at the southern tip of the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef and is one of the world's top diving and snorkelling sites. This Queensland Island Resort is located within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park in the highest possible classification of Marina National Park Zone by GBRMPA. The Marine eco-system in this region includes a multitude of birdlife, reef fish, live corals and, at certain times of the year, whales and turtles. There are many ways to explore Lady Elliot Island Resort. Some of the activities at this Queensland Island Resort include glass bottomed boat rides, scuba diving, snorkeling, fish feeding and guided reef and nature walks. With exceptionally clear water year round, discover turtles, dolphins and a large variety of coral, fish and giant manta rays. Depending on the season, guests can see birds nesting, turtle hatchlings emerging from the sand or migrating humpback whales blow and breech.
Accommodation
Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort has six different accommodation styles. In keeping with the natural, eco-friendly lifestyle there are no telephones, television or radios and all rooms are fan-cooled.
Shearwater Bunkroom: Suitable for large families and groups of friends. Polished timber floors and large glass sliding doors add to the feel of the room. All Shearwater rooms have private bathroom and wall fan. Each room has a private balcony set with table and chairs for a relaxing beginning or end to the day, or just to simply to enjoy the surrounds. Rooms are set in the gardens, located approximately 30 metres from Sunrise Beach. Bedding is 3 Sets of Bunk Beds. Maximum room capacity is 6 Adults & Children.
Eco Hut: The Eco Huts are roomy permanent safari-style tents with polished wooden floors. The huts are constructed with canvas ceiling and walls with a flysheet over the top for added shading and temperature control. All windows have fly screens and zip up canvas portions for privacy, in addition to privacy dividers mounted externally to all side windows. Electric lighting and power points are available in every cabin as well as a free standing fan. A small entry patio is furnished with chair and table for added relaxation. All Eco Huts are situated within 20 to 30 metres of Sunrise Beach, close enough to be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves at night. Communal bathrooms are located approx 30 metres away. Bedding is 2 Sets of Bunk Beds. Maximum room capacity is 4 Adults & Children.
Garden View: Ideal for families. Polished timber floors, wardrobe space and a ceiling fan are in each room. Tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar fridge are provided. Ensuite bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. Each unit has its own large balcony with patio furniture. Bedding is 1 Queen Bed + 1 Set of Bunks. Maximum room capacity is 4 Adults & Children.
Reef View: Polished timber floors, wardrobe space and a ceiling fan are in every room. Features an ensuite bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. Tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar fridge are provided. Each unit has its own large balcony with patio furniture arranged so that you can make the most of the views. The majority of Reef View rooms are less than 10 metres from Sunrise Beach. Bedding is 1 Queen Bed + 1 Set of Bunk Beds. Maximum room capacity is 4 Adults & Children.
1 Bedroom Island Suite: Located right on the edge of the lagoon. This semi open-plan suite features a private balcony, separate air-conditioned lounge with lagoon views over Sunrise Beach. A kitchenette forms a centre point for private socials and consists of a microwave, bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and basin. The one bedroom suite has a spacious bathroom which includes a shower and hairdryer. Bedding is 1 Queen Bed. Maximum room capacity is 2 Adults & Children.
2 Bedroom Island Suite: Absolute beach front accommodation. Features a private balcony. In whale season humpback whales can be seen breaching on this particular side of the island. Enjoy your own separate air-conditioned lounge with lagoon views over Sunrise Beach. In turtle nesting season the adults come ashore to nest within a few metres of this suite. Facilities include a kitchenette with microwave, bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and basin. The main bedroom has lagoon views while the second bedroom has island views. The two bedroom suite has a spacious bathroom which includes a shower and hairdryer. Bedding is 1 Queen Bed + 2 Single Beds. Maximum room capacity is 4 Adults & Children.

Rangers Club for kids: During the Queensland and New South Wales school holidays the junior reef rangers club will entertain youngsters from 3-12 years of age with a range of planned activities. They get involved in a great variety of exciting escapades, from designing and creating costumes for the themed dinners, to making cool mementos to take home. They also go out and about and discover exactly whats what on the island (to make sure we get a fair go when it comes to the competition nights - like Pictionary etc), and they make sure that everyone has a great deal of fun too - after all that's the main aim of the day!!

Diving & Snorkelling: Experienced divers and snorkellers can join one of the regular group dives, where qualified dive staff will take you to their favourite reef sites - swim with the majestic manta rays at the Lighthouse Bommie, drift dive in the late afternoon at Encounters, or explore secret caverns at the Blow Hole and Hiro's Cave. Dive sites are accessed either straight from the beach or via a short boat ride. Visibility regularly exceeds 20 metres, with water temperatures ranging between 18 and 27 degrees Centigrade.
The lagoon area is ideal for novice snorkellers and you'll find enough tropical fish and colourful coral to keep you out there for hours. Snorkelling lessons for beginners are conducted in the pool
Glass Bottom Boat Tours: A full commentary is provided as you drift over the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. A great way to see the majestic manta rays, dolphins and whales (in season) without getting wet!
Reef Walking: When the tide is low, you can venture all the way through the lagoon from the beach to the reef edge. You'll see a multitude of marine life as the experienced guide introduces you to the complexities of the reef eco-system.
Nature Walks: Learn about the unique eco-systems on a coral cay during the guided walks around the island. The itinerary changes every day to highlight the natural wonders of the beach and lagoon, the bird rookery, the lighthouse and the historical artifacts left behind by the guano miners.
Whale Watching: From June to October, the great humpback whales make their annual migration from the Antarctic to the warm waters off the central Queensland coast. You don't need to go out on a boat, just sit and watch the passing parade from the beach or reef edge.
Turtle Watching: From November to February, Green and Loggerhead turtles come ashore at night to nest. The guides will help you find the best vantage point without disturbing the turtles while they lay their eggs or watch the tiny hatchlings as they make their way to the water.
Fish Feeding: A multitude of reef fish appear at the "fish pool" everyday, and the activities officer will show you how to hand feed them.
